Hello, I would like to express my gratitude for the amazing contributions behind the "Direct Control" mod. It is one of the most innovative mods for The Sims 4.

I recently managed to fix it to be compatible with the current version of The Sims 4. However, I noticed that the mod was marked "All Rights Reserved" on CurseForge. Sadly, I learned that the creator has passed away.

I would like to respect their legacy and avoid legal issues. It will not be distributed without permission; however, if anyone knows if posthumous permission can be obtained or if a representative can be contacted, please let me know. Thank you.

what's the process you used to get it to work? as for the rights reserved... the creator passed away, share away.

Since the author passed, I would post the fix.

Many people, including myself, would love to be able to use this on the recent update.

Just remember to give credit to Victor and his amazing contribution to the Sims community.

I also agree that in this case of the mod being abandoned that you can share it freely.

I would also love to use this mod as i'm tired of the god view that the sims series has used and i feel that the over the shoulder(ish) cam brings new life to the game.

and yea just give credits to Victor :)

Hello. It is amazing that someone has managed to fix the ongoing UI issue, as for someone who enjoys the mod, and has commented here in the past, although the visual bug does not break anything gameplay wise, it still looks bad aesthetically.

That being said, I do hope this fix exists, and to find out where to get this permission I could think of two ideas, plus an extra one.

First, as he had worked closely and was SimRealist's Lead Mod Developer, this is the first place to consider as a representative, as I'm sure the mod was made while working in this position. Even though they might not "hold the licence", they might know who does.

Second, you can always try to track down and stalk this person to know exactly who is close to them and who, eventually, got hold of the rights to this mod. This, of course, comes with the price of being not really morally accepted, as you'll be stalking your way to find a person so you can ask if you can modify Victor's mod...

Which brings the third idea. The only legal issue you would realistically get is a Cease and Desist order, which would be fairly easy to remediate. You'd just have to stop sharing the mod. Honestly I do not see why they would do that to begin with, since that is not tarnishing his mod and, instead, is making it so that more people can enjoy it nowadays like it has been enjoyed in the past. I believe that a midterm solution would be to just post the link of your fix in this comment section, or tell everyone how you did it.

TL;DR: Talk to SimRealist, or try to find any relative through stalking or otherwise just bite the bullet, post it and if someone sends something your way it's at best a C&D so just comply to it, although it seems unlikely

EDIT: Apparently his brother did start a GoFundMe campaign to gather funds to sustain the family through that rough time. The campaign is still open and his brother can be contacted. Try to reach him and see if you can get to an agreement?

Thanks for the info, I'll try to contact them. However, I ran into problems fixing the visual issues, maybe EA changed the camera code at some point. But I had to rewrite and simulate a camera rotation effect. It will look very different from before. At the same time, to fix the UI problem, I also rewrote a key detection through the system-level keyboard hook, which caused the F1 key to no longer work, but now it can be enabled directly through the menu.

Wife and I have been playing sims 2 and had some interest in trying the multiplayer mod and this mod to make things similar!

Id love to try to collab and revive this mod if you need assistance.

is there any update on whether an updated version can be released, as of recently the mod no longer works at all, it won’t let you load into a household, instead of just having a broken UI. This is a really good mod and i really enjoy having the full control over my sim. I would hate to see this mod fizzle out, and I’m sure the creator wouldn’t want his work to go unused if there’s people out there willing to fix it.

Same issue here! I cannot load into the household when having this mod installed. Really hope someone take a look at this great mod!
