The latest version (0.97) is, pardon my French, quite the bullshit. Sadly idk what version I was using before, I think it started with an 8, sorry I know that's not very helpful.
Anyway, the fuckups:
- First, the big thing: Fights have been almost entirely replaced with CYOA events. Where previously it was like 20% events 80% fights, now it's like 10% fights 90% events. Sometimes you get a raid with no fights at all.
- What's the point of developing your game around a decent card based combat system and then almost entirely removing it??
- The CYOA events are excessively random and not really based on logic. they repeat a lot, and you can quickly see that the same choices sometimes lead to success, sometimes to failure without any hints.
- The CYOA skil checks appear broken. When you have a choice that has a percentage chance associated with it, it almost always fails. Specifically, I see many choices with "84%" in them, and since I started tracking it, they resulted in a success about 4 times out of 30 - yes, that's statisticlaly still possible, but super unlikely (and you don't want your game to run like that anyway) and rather looks like the check is reversed, i.e. the odds are 100-84= 16%,
- Sometiems the CYOA events just waste your time, no options, no skill checks, just click button to follow someone and (without skill check) they run away.
- Some of those CYO events make you LOSE points. Couple this with the fact that the outcome is random mroe often than not, and the GAME IS NOW SUPER GRINDY and you don't even have the fun battle mechanics anymore.
- Travelling on the map doesn't deplete stamina
- Travelling in a raid does not move the clock
- Events in a raid do not move the clock
- The above means that you don't know how long you still have for the raid, as there is still some internal timer and the raid just ends when the game decides it's enough, and then does a timeskip to morning.
- The Cards section in the menu is empty. What's the point?
Some of these are highly questionable design choices, but some of it is flat out broken. For a game that gets released onyl once in a while, you'd definitely expect more testing...
