Before the voting ends and the jam wraps up in a few days, just want to say... Sticky

A massive thank you to all who joined, especially those who submitted and actively took part in rating each other's games, giving feedback and appreciation.

This being my first game jam, I really wasn't sure what to expect; but you guys embraced the concept marvellously and blew me away with your creativity. I can honestly put hand on heart and say there is not one single lacklustre game submitted, you have smashed it out of the park and with that I can say the jam has been a joy to host and a true success.

Which brings me to this announcement - RPG Maker Not an RPG jam... is making a planned return in the coming weeks.

But... in order to make this a reality I will need your help. I desperately need some feedback from you guys, what you enjoyed, what can I do to make this better? Specifically, I need feedback with:

How did you find the submission period? If you were to consider joining and submitting again would you prefer to have a longer submission period? A longer voting period perhaps? Anything else you think is relevant, I'm all ears. Well, technically eyes since I'm reading the text but whatever~

Provisional plans (subject to change). The next jam will be themed. Yes. In light of this, I do plan to relax the current rules so as not to restrict your creativity. I am also looking to expand the prize pool to cover 3rd place and runner-up. More details to follow.

To round out, good luck everyone and remember I will contact the winner when the jam concludes to deliver the prize. Until then, please if you can spare the time kindly play, rate and give other games some feedback.

Thanks,

Razuth

P.S Thank you so much for making these gems and thus the jam itself a success. The games are something I have added to a specially created collection on my itch page and I will treasure them forever.

Everything is fine, the most part I hate is the vote time, yeah because I get very unlucky, again. So maybe you can rate and judge by your self and also give some sub theme for bonus point.

And also thank you for hosting this jam!

Thank you for taking part and making such an awesome game for the jam, it means a lot to me.

The 2nd jam has been submitted, but since itch takes normally 5 days to make the jam public I did it early. I can still take everyone's feedback and adjust it on the fly. I have already decided that the voting time as well as the submission period are too short and have extended both. Also please remember that unlike other jams who require you to wait for the jam to start, you can start working on your game for my jam any time you wish to give yourself more time.

If you don't mind could you please explain why you felt you were unlucky? I'd like to know more so I can help you in any way because I want as many people to feel welcome in the next jam as possible. Thanks :)

Wait so I already can work on your 2nd jam?

Well.. for the unlucky part.. I already check too many time, but still get 2 vote and I don't know why is so little bit who download my games. Should I playable on web? Yeah but it will very bug a lot because need to load to many pictures. Because not like to play FNAF? Yeah maybe it's also the issue. It's kind a unfair you know, that's why I like to get judge by jury than get voted

Ah I see, I understand what you mean.

I completely empathize with you. I feel your frustration as well. You may or may not know this but I am a hobbyist dev as well as running this jam I also submit my own games to other jams and I find it unfair that itch downgrades games without enough ratings. Unfortunately, my hands are a little bit tied because I found out there is no one good and fair way that the voting works on itch.

Let me show you with this:

Making it a public vote becomes too fraudulent so I will never use it. Anyone can make a bogus itch account and upvote their friends game many times. I understand that to make it fair so everyone gets one vote from only the judge would solve the problem but the issue is I like to give the submitters (such as yourself) the reward of rating other's games for their hard work.

If you look at the rating queue it makes it so everyone wanting to vote has to vote on more things that are not their choice of game. The problem with that is to get to the game they want, they might not even play the games they have been allocated and may choose to rate the game poorly or highly just to get to the game they want.

Also people may not have much time to fit around making their own game if they have work, education or childcare commitments to play each and every game in the jam. Having to force people will put them off and make the jam less fun, I don't want to punish people by doing that.

But you are right, if you don't get enough ratings, unfortunately your game gets downgraded. My last project my raw score was low 4 stars, high 3 stars and because I did not get enough votes it was downgraded to mid 2 stars. I am going to write to itch and raise this issue with them. Your score should be your score and not penalized by lack of votes. But I'm not expecting much - they will not change their metrics for the sake of me, one guy XD

On the plus side, there is still time for people to vote on your game in this jam. What I have noticed is the last 24 hours people get a lot of votes. So 2 votes is not the end of the world.

I will try sort things out so that it can be as fair as possible, but nothing's ever going to be perfect. Yes, making a game available in browser may get you some more votes but it is not a guarantee. If you wish to make a browser game make sure your project has less than 1000 files or it will NOT work. I have MZ and by default it has around 1600 files in a blank project before you add anything, so you must delete everything you do not use. My advice is to make a browser and a download version if you think the browser version may lag.

Hope this has helped you, thanks again and all the best - hope to see you in the next jam!

Thank you for that

Well.. that's okay, I always have another plan, like if maybe nobody vote my games again  or little bit that someone download my games I can try to post on Gamejolt (because it's FNAF fan game maybe it get more attention than on itch.io). Or maybe promotion like making trailer or post on my social media. Even though it's not for vote but my goal is for other people play and enjoy my games.

I more like if the vote is like bonus winner, and the main place is judge by the jury, so there is more change for other winning.

But well, I still not give up you know for the jam, maybe I will think more about what game I should make and what game that maybe many people will play it.
