This is pretty cool :) A little too tedious(and to oeasy) later on, but a really interesting idea :P
I guess if you ever wanted to expand it into a full game, you'd probably want to expand on it, like crafting tools, meals, etc. as well as just bait, having something like trapping or rudimentary farming in addition to the fishing, perhaps other systems based on similar attribute-based concept(like use acidic stuff to get better mushroom/plant/moss A, baiting traps, different tools for harvesting different resources, etc.). Hmm.
