Hi! I know it`s a little bit late to claim this, but I`m quite keen on Outlast 2 demo and I was quite eager and surprised to find it here. So I downloaded it and tried to run it (as an administrator), but it always writes "the application was unable to start (0xc000007b)". I know that it could be quite common amongst programmes, but the problem is that I`ve tried out all the occuring solutions, so mainly they mention reinstall directx and visual c++. I`ve already tried out to install directx and visual c++ from the time of the game (so software updates from 2016), doesn`t work, then I`ve tried out to have the latest installments of these softwares (so the most recents), but I always receive this message. Do you have any solution for this or have you encountered with this issue? Thank you for your answer in advance.

Nope have never encountered this one... This is most likely a DLL Compabilty Error. Or your  Direct X Install  got corrupted somehow by a Windows Update for Example.  What System are you on??? This would be helpful to know.

So the only thing I could think of to fix this is delete all of your Direct X Files and reinstalling  them from Scratch.  Sorry that I am not really helpful here...

One other Suggestion I can make is go to your Outlast 2 Demo Gamefolder and open:  _CommonRedist/vcredist/2012 and install both  vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe. I have left them here for this exact case. Don´t know if this fixes your Problem though...

Okay so when installing vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe also didnt help this most likely means your Direct X Install is corrupted.

To repair corrupted Direct X Files  go to your Searchbar on your Taskbar and type in "cmd". Don´t forget to select "use as Administrator". This will open a Command Window.

In there you type in "sfc /scannow". Than press Enter.

This will scan your Direct X Install for Corruptions. Let this Process finish, can take a while.  Than try launching the Game again. I really hope this works...
