Ah, I'm so glad you noticed the changes depending on the player choice! Like sure you can get your dad to like you, but at what cost? And yes, I imagine the child as queer even if it's never explicitly stated. I'm fascinated by the concept of people seeing you as something (and treating you differently as a result) before you yourself are aware that something's different about you. Andrew is just trying to live his life the only way he knows how, but through the responses he gets he realizes that something's wrong, and he doesn't know how to put that something back into place. And it's like who knows; maybe Andrew isn't queer. Maybe he's just a boy who likes poetry, but he's still going to be treated differently for that. He's still going to be forced to chose between conformity or nonconformity. We live in a society.
