You have a README which is great, but you'll need a License file as well (these are two main criteria for open source category). I love that your README is comprehensive, if you add some screenshots that'll spice it up even more.
Wow, this was just so fast I couldn't get the handle on the controls. Sometimes it would just randomly work... and others, not so good. Love the sound effects, love the music. The art-style fits and is great for your chosen game theme (platformer). Nice work on the fitting in with the balance theme.
