I just updated the game to version 4.02 on itch, since it failed to automatically upload using butler for some reason. Try performing a fresh reinstall with that version!
I actually figured it out. I didn’t realize I had to go to the main menu, select Start, and select chapter 2 in order to advance - I thought it would just start chapter 2 automatically. A message at the end of chapter one would help!
