Very nice idea! Even tho it's a bit much at first. I also thought that the dice mechanic was a bit annoying more than fun. Some times I just couldn't do anything because of one wrong dice.
But overall very nice expierence :)

Thank you for your feedback!

I agree about the dice, it was one of those "Why don't I do this" ideas that ended up not feeling great but by the time everything was in place I didn't have time to re-evaluate the resources system. There were mechanics for re-rolling and adding dice to your pool that help the balancing but it doesn't do enough to offset the frustration imo. Also I want to personally apologize for the tutorial. I had thrown it in last minute when it occurred to me I had to explain the game's rules so that wasn't ideal xD

Hey no problem, I totally get that haha. It is good that you tried that idea tho! That's some good expierence, this way you can much more clearly see for yourself why a "very cool and nice idea" has maybe more problems or is not as fun as you thought, but maybe there is still a way to make it work. I like the idea of the dice being the cost for the cards. I am not quiet sure myself HOW to fix the problem getting stuck, but I think it could work if you had more ways to manipulate the dice rolls.

A quick balance idea would be:
Maybe instead of having cards that cost a dice with a 3,2,2 you could make it for some cards this is at least a 3 or 2. Cards that are much more worth maybe only accept a certain number, but you would've to play around with this.

Just keep at it! It's a real solid and fun game and I bet you can figure some way out :)

No problem, I think I skimmed through alot (I am sometimes not very patient, sorry haha). That is just sometimes the problem with gamejams, especially if you are making a complicated card game.  Some kind of Rulebook on the itch page would've been nice, to again read the rules.
This is all super nitpicky, I hope I've said some things that helped you in a way.
And don't be to hard onto yourself! This is a Jam, some jank or problems will happen haha, that's part of the fun!

Oh dont I know it, I just finished another jam where I had almost no tutorials. Felt like the polar opposit of this.

I may or may not re-visit the project for some kind of re balance but chances are decent it stays in this state unless people are playing it still after the jam for some reason. Thanks for the ideas tho

Also don't worry Im not being hard on myself about old Billy's game. I learned a lot of invaluable lessons here about handling resources, using constructor functions, and ai decision making. Each jam game I enter has a specific learning goal and Billy's main job was to teach me, then entertain.

Sounds like the jam expierence haha :D

no problem, you are welcome!

Ah yes, I pretty much do the same. There is alot to learn haha, sadly for this jam I didn't have that much time, but it was also a nice expierence how fast I could make something playable. I think with that mindset, to learn every jam something new, is a good way to learn alot very fast. (And it's pretty fun haha). Like I said from a technical point it is a very solid Game :)
