Can this game be adapted for solo play?
Not easily? It would probably work as a duo (a GM and a Player). If someone really had a story to tell and could set the scene and the initial difficulty (Tempo) in the game, the rest may fall into place. The only downside I would see is that the game has mechanics built to team up on actions and pool resources (points called Feedback).
