I'm not actively working on this (it *is* a free Jam game from a year ago after all), but I can't seem to replicate the issue to fix it right now. Thank you for letting me know about it though, I'll try going about a fix for it as soon as I can figure out the cause.
I might know what's going on. I think it has something to do with the cherries when you get too strong. I'm level 13 all around, and I just lunged at a cake and a cherry, dealing 28 damage, when the Error appeared. Maybe that might help singling out the issue
