You're absolutely right about the melee — it was one of the earliest systems we threw in, and it's been overdue for a proper rework. The animation-lock, lack of directional freedom, and cursor disconnect are all things we’re aware of now (and you've explained it really clearly — thanks again).
Gunplay is coming soon™, but yeah — if the melee doesn’t feel responsive, it sets the wrong tone early on, and that’s on us. We’ll be updating the combat system in one of the next builds to make it way more dynamic and player-driven.
