The pregnant lady is acting as a surrogate for her friends where the wife has ovarian cancer, so kid is not hers and when it is born would be going off to live with them. Also FYI won't be born in the timeline of this game.

Yes. You can however opt out completely of anything other than being a friendly neighbor to her.
