Sombra was really cool and gave me some incredible Axiom Verge vibes at points, particularly the latter half. I love how crunchy and moody the piece is as a whole. Can easily envision hearing this in a game, and this may be my favourite of the bunch.
Trencalòs explores a different kind of vibe; feels kind of like a piece of underscore you'd find beneath dialogue or as a cutscene is playing out. Could also function as a level theme.
Meanwhile, Fredrik is just laden with moodiness. The intro does a great job of building up the tension for when the main section kicks in. The percussion and sound design is doing heavy lifting in this track, but the bass work beneath it all is delicious. Appropriately thick and wet sounding.
Finally, Balena™ ends things on a rather uneasy note. The first half of this really reminds me of something I'd find in some late-stage Genesis/Megadrive game, possibly even an early PS1 title. It has that perfect mix of uncertainty and strange droning that never quite resolves.
This was the first submission I've listened to for this jam and it really does set the standard. Great synth work throughout - plenty of aural variety. I love how many elements are bordering on outright sound-design to set the tone and create some atmosphere, all the while grounded by the more typical melodic elements and percussion to keep it grounded in context. Great work!
