Hey! This error is caused by a legacy bug caused by triggering the Ruins side-quest in one version and finishing it in another. It shouldn't occur anymore in new versions. Apologies for the inconvenience.
so is there no way for me to go back there and re-experience the scene. From what I remember I did the Emma non possession route back then and I wanted to see the consequences of getting everyone taken over
Hmm, the error is thrown by a plug-in I use so I'm not 100% sure there's a super easy way to get around it unless you go back to before you triggered the quest.
