It might be the Scroll Wheel bug the Dev talks about ingame. I went back to the start and did a long Skip and the game proceeded normally.
is there any other workaround? what are you suppose to click after texting with your dad?
nm. went back to the night before where dad messages about not coming home for the night and auto skipped from there.
