For starters, don't force yourself to draw new cards when out of free draws, unless you absolutely need to. Make sure you have willpower cards to regain that stat, and obey cards to delete useless ones, the earlier you get it, the better. When choosing a task, compare the cards they give as rewards, many cards may look identical but have better stats. If you have a bad round, don't worry, use that to purge all the bimbo and unwanted cards you just drew.
