You are correct, the game was heavenly inspired by the "Bloons" franchise, and this game was a very "tongue in cheek" homage to that. As far as the theme goes...since the users in the game had a chance to ignore the towers, you wanted to upgrade them to keep all the users focused on the towers...to keep "All Eyes on Me!!!... Keep in mind that the theme for the game jam was purposefully broad to allow for creative freedom and interpretation of the theme. I had a lot of fun making the game and was able to delve into aspects of game design that I had not before...which was very exciting. I'm glad you enjoyed playing it.
