- This is a port of Minecraft Classic to C pretty much, Luanti is just Minetest.
- It's a more solid product than Minetest.
- It's FOSS (afaik Luanti is as well)
- It's codebase is more optimized than Minetest
- You can play this virtually everywhere (PC, DS, N64, PS1, SiliconGraphics INDY)
- Modding support can do more to the core game, including rewriting the very core of the game.
- It's existed longer.
- You can join *some* Minecraft servers (Minecraft Classic servers from Betacraft) with this.
- It's simple.
- The goals are to just make a optimized, portable version of Classic with enhancements, which it does, Luanti/Minetest are full fledged engines, with a very broad scope, too big for them to be seen as "Simple" for the people who want a simple experience.
What are you talking about.
CPE (Classic Protocol Extension) adds features to make servers more flexable, like more control over player UI, more blocks, etc.
You can make worlds that are sizes Classic doesn't support
It has texture pack support
It's open source
It's on many platforms
It can convert levels from any version of the game to it's own format
It can play on Betacraft Classic servers without a fuss
etc,
The fact you are saying these make it WORSE is honestly baffling, and you clearly haven't actually played it.
