So I really enjoyed Spectacle but what stumped me was the solution to the Cicada lock. When I read the solution my jaw dropped i wasn’t sure if it was brilliant or ridiculous. Is there anything that hints at it i might have missed?

In retrospect i noticed Roman numerals on the pocket watch and the Cicada lock. Which is a subtle hint but was there any others? This puzzle would be right at home in classic adventure games. It makes sense given the importance of time in Spectacle but its just something i don't think everyone would think of trying. Definitely a very subconscious oriented puzzle.
