Not sure what that says about me, then. He mostly reminds me of Kazuma from Konosuba. Not someone I would necessarily want to be friends with but he's entertaining. I want to see him succeed but I also like when he fails.
It helps that the player has plenty of opportunities to make him less of a jerk. He'll always be an ass but you can keep him from being an asshole. If that makes any sense.
Yeah, my goal has been to make him something of a stupid and entertaining dickhead. Someone you don't feel bad for when bad things happen to him, because he kind of deserves it.
But I do want there to be some level of sympathy for him as well, so I'm happy to hear that at least someone has a little bit to spare.
It's a tough balancing act, but it wouldn't be fun to write if I just succeeded perfectly at my every attempt.
