What version are you on? Like what does the title screen say - send a screenshot of possible
good job fixing it - just to be clear, that bug was never present in the public version, or any version available here on itch so be sure to double check where you get the game from.
There is a Fast option in the text window, you can also hold ctrl to speed through dialogues, and there's an option when starting a new game to pick up at the new content.
