Bushes with an icon pop-up require you to press a button to hide in them; it's similar to the hide and seek with False Angel's camp.
Goblins are not going down because you are too weak to hurt them. Bonk them more than 5 times or reload the save and buy Strenght potion; each one you drink shortens the time you need to bonk enemies by one bonk.
