When you're talking to Emily on chapter 2 and you confess your feelings, if that is your choice your protagonist is supposed to mean it. It's only after Emily's response that she backs down. More on that on future episodes.
If the protagonist doesn't go to the warehouse, the plot gets really hard to make because chapter 4 and 5 basically doesn't happen. In our canon way, the protagonist does have a personality and she somewhat chooses what to do (We know that in most VN protagonists are as bland as possible to make it easy to make it yours, but we really wanted to explore her having thoughts and feelings about certain aspects.)
