If you see the “can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software” error, it’s likely because macOS is blocking apps that aren’t from the App Store. Apple uses a security feature called Gatekeeper, which only trusts software from the App Store.
There are two simple ways to bypass Apple’s Gatekeeper temporarily:
1. Use the Context Menu:
1) Locate the app in Finder.
2) Right-click (or hold down the Ctrl key while clicking) the app’s icon.
3) Select Open from the menu that appears.
4) When prompted, click Open again to confirm you trust the application.
2. Use System Preferences:
1) Go to the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.
2) Select Security & Privacy, then click the General tab.
3) You’ll see a note about the blocked app at the bottom of the window.
4) Click Open Anyway to bypass the restriction.
5) Confirm you want to open the app when prompted.
