Hello everyone!
First off, we are incredibly grateful to have secured 3rd place in GameForge 2.0 with our game, Medieval Escape! ๐ฎโจ It was an intense but amazing 48 hours, and weโd love to share our experience with you all.
๐ Our Journey & Concept
We wanted to create an immersive puzzle-adventure game set in a medieval dungeon. With limited time, we focused on making engaging gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine and pre-made assets. Our goal was to balance puzzles with an eerie dungeon atmosphere.
โ๏ธ Challenges We Faced
- Time Management โณ โ Planning everything within 48 hours was tough. We had to cut features and optimize our workflow.
- Technical Issues ๐ป โ We faced unexpected Unreal Engine crashes and ray tracing errors, but we quickly troubleshooted and adapted.
- Designing a Cohesive World ๐จ โ Since we had to use only pre-made assets, we had to get creative to make the dungeon feel unique and immersive.
๐ What We Learned
- Rapid Prototyping is Key โ In a game jam, getting a working version early helped us refine mechanics instead of scrambling last-minute.
- Teamwork & Communication ๐ฅ โ Everyone on our team played a crucial role. Good communication helped us work efficiently.
- Simplicity Wins โ Instead of overcomplicating the game, we focused on polishing core mechanics, which made the game more fun and stable.
๐ฏ Final Thoughts
GameForge 2.0 was an incredible learning experience, and we are proud of what we achieved in just 48 hours! ๐ฅ We want to thank the organizers, judges, and all participants for making this such a fun and competitive event.
Weโd love to hear feedback on Medieval Escape and hope to see everyone in future game jams! ๐๐ฎ
