Help me understand this demo, because my experience seems to be somewhat different than others'.

Female character chosen. Linear story about landing on a space station makes zero details about the character's body relevant.

Plot leads to a story about a VR headset and a bug-shaped robot popping. No options for choices along the path, which simply loops back without a warning, aside from "you wouldn't want to die a second time".

Is this the Major Female Update? I'm so confused, there's not even gameplay here. Is the ending considered a "female" ending?

The demo wasn't updated, all that content is in the actual game.

That being said, if you don't like the demo, you'll probably not like the main game. The purpose of the demo is to give you an idea of what themes it focuses on and the writing style. While the main game does have more choices, it's still just a twine game with a focus on "bad ends".
