I know I'm late, but the reason is most likely the version your using, if you tried using 64 bit, try 32. Had the same issue but worked when running the 32.
I appreciate the help! I guess it must've been some problem with my laptop because I switched to my other computer and the game runs fine now, even though I was using the 64-bit version on both systems.
