I love the death animation. Had a good laugh the first time it happened. I felt like it was too fast since it doesn't give the player much time to react. Maybe the bar the player needs to time the letter presses can be lower on the screen and the player needs to press multiple letters or the letters appear more frequent could make it feel better. Since you're also using letters, maybe the player could even spell out words.
The game is overall great and I love how it saves your high score even if you refresh the page (my best is 124m).
