I got the DLC on steam for free and I played it multiple times and it didn't activate. Do I need to go into the game files to do it or is there something else I need to do?

yeah same problem here ^^' try tons of things but can't seems to make it work

did you buy the dlc that cost money first? also, if you got the original files from here that may cause issues

No, when I first saw it on steam it was free and I downloaded it for free. I'm curious, what issues would it cause?

if you bought the dlc first and didnt reinstall the game it wouldn't activate. I'm unsure as to if downloading the files from itch.io first would also cause issues - but either way you need to reinstall it again after purchasing the dlc. I'm unsure as to if the dlc has ever been free on steam - are you sure you didn't just buy the base game?
