You can simply cancel after a month, and you will have access to the game forever. There is no need to keep your membership once you gain access, the Patreon gives you a download key that gives you access forever, regardless of whether you continue paying.

Right, I understand that, but as I pointed out a one time payment here is simpler than signing up / paying on patreon and then canceling a subscription the following month.

I see the listing here is now $5 again, if this is not a mistake I'll gladly proceed with a purchase.
