Hi again! I saw your reply just recently, including the update and got two things to say…

First: I’m glad to see you taking feedback on the game – that’s a sign of a good dev – and even more glad to see what I suggested actually change things!

Second – and it’s a bit of a text wall but bear with me:

So like I said, I saw the update and it got me curious about the game again so I decided to give it another go. See the changes in action, you know?

I found way more than I expected and I wanted to write something more comprehensive, since the wording in my comment felt really vague last time.

I’ll break it all down nice and tidy...

Others beware – this will contain spoilers!

Replaying through the game, I ran into some bugs that might need looking into (critical ones first)

  • I refused Darby’s request about the tome just to see what would happen and I found that it softlocks the player! I think it was caused by Ellissa being unable to join the party, thus blocking progress…
  • There was an event (didnt catch it) that caused Elwood to leave the party which also softlocks the player.
  • Elma requested a dozen bat fangs, and Ellissa mentioned that it was 12 she was asking for, but the actual requirement was somewhere around 20.
  • Abby can equip Elwood’s Oathsword, which I’m guessing is not supposed to happen.

For the smaller bugs…

  • After exiting the room with Taun (or it was the cave, i forgot), the dripping BGS still plays in the background permanently.
  • Speaking of Taun, the battle music that plays for his battle never changes after you defeat him, so it also plays in the normal battles
  • After the scene with the celebration feast, I came back to Darby and found this:

I also talked to Emily before fighting Taun and ran into this tiny oversight:

The rest is for less important nitpicks or stuff I just thought was really cool!

  • The blue fire flame is placed in somewhat awkward places – the most notable example being in the player’s home. I’d suggest maybe giving it a place more neat to sit at and maybe cleaning up the text for it.
  • When I talked to Alden and Sam for their free weapon/armor offers, they gave the options through a choice event. Nothing bad by any means, it’s just that the only problem is that you can’t really back out of that choice. (you technically can but they give you no equipment if you do)

I recommend maybe changing it into a one-time shop processing event where the player can preview the stats and descriptions of the items first before making a decision. Though now that I think about it, making them organized still requires a choice event, so it's up to you…

  • I liked the characters and the story that was built up, but the pacing feels off in the way that the player must go back and forth to many of the townsfolk before going on any real adventure. It would be nice to include an option to skip that prologue section, especially if it’s a repeat playthrough.
  • I know there was a whole thing in the game about nothing being free, but it would be nice to lower the prices for the items, even if just a little bit. I needed to win around 10-13 battles just to get enough money for one potion. That could be worth checking out.
  • I also remember a secret boss in the ruined home, or am I just mixing it up with a different game?

But don’t think I’m here to bash your game!! It’s not all bad!

  • The most obvious thing being the changes to Taun. His fight now feels much more fair and reasonable, so genuinely thanks a lot for that.
  • I never mentioned it but the class-exclusive abilities in and out of combat are a really cool idea. I encourage it!
  • The humor still managed to catch me by surprise – a lot! Sure, it still breaks the immersion but it's really charming. Just  be careful not to toss it into more serious scenes!
  • Abby is just the best. Her comical personality is on point.

Short version; I liked the game, still like it, and I just happened to find some spots here and there to take care of

Hey, thanks for the reply. Good to see ya caught a few critical bugs, that gives me a decent list of things to work through when I can and fix up.

I will try to take into account all of the criticism given and fix up any mentioned bugs.

As another thing, there was a secret boss in the ruined home though I have had trouble with the triggers for the entrance to the boss room before, so I will double check and make sure it still works, though I believe I might have also changed the exact requirements for the secret door to unlock after the first version, so do as well try to unlock that if ya can lol. Thank you for your time as well.
