Hey Lasher, thanks for reaching out :)
Great question! To someone watching, it’ll look like you’re shooting hoops and practicing moves - but mentally you’re keeping score (with "guardrail" rules to simulate playing another team). So you’re always shooting, but switching between offensive and defensive sets:
- On offense, you're shooting to score points for your team.
- On defense, you're shooting to stop points against your team.
- Ball bounce back to you / manage to catch it before it touches the ground? Offensive rebound.
- Fumble the ball / does it bounce out of bounds? Turnover.
- Have a fav spot to shoot from? You can't twice in a row, the opposition knows your tricks.
- Getting tired and missing shots? Call a timeout to run the clock.
- Have fouls to give? Use them at strategic times to make every point earned.
The web app lets you keep track of your score, home court advantage, and luck. You can optionally use the Tournament Bracket PDF and play other nearby "teams".
Hope that helps explain it a little! (The original Kickstarter page might give you a flavour of what I set out when making it). All combined, it’s my little excuse to explore the neighbourhood for hidden courts and have a fun way to play a one player version of my favourite game 🤗 🏀
