I've been informed that the game runs well with a wrapper for Linux -- I'm not sure about what's involved, but that may be an option!

It probably runs with ScummVM, since it supports AGS games. However a native downloadable version would be super rad. I know this might not be your top priority right now. Please, think about it. I'd love to help.

No need for any wrappers, the game runs natively on Linux. Take a look at this and let me know if you need any help: https://itch.io/t/4016389/play-ags-games-on-linux-natively

And congrats on the release!

Awesome. I just compiled the latest AGS on Ubuntu and it worked! Looking forward to playing! It's been so long since I've played something like this.

Just in case someone else is wondering, using Wine as simply as

wine ./The\ Crimson\ Diamond\ -\ Full\ Game.exe

worked without a hitch. It stores saves way deep in ~/.wine/ as expected.

I couldn't help but figuring out the minimalist native solution that I'd prefer for no logical reason.

This is what worked for the AGS 3.6.2.11 tarball, and probably every other version ever made:

  1. Unzip the download
  2. Unpack the tar in the same directory
  3. Symlink (or copy, but I'm doing minimalism) the .exe and audio.vox files into data/

I get an error, both with symlink and copy, that audio.vox is missing, yet the music is playing just fine. At least in the beginning; haven't really played yet.

PS.

Love the 1.6:1 aspect ratio! Hope that's throughout the whole game and not a Linux glitch I got :D
