Cute and nice overall style! Loved it quite much. The game was way longer than I expected it to be, such a shame I wasn't able to know what the other slot will contain :)
My constructive criticism would be changing item cycling to another button, as playing with arrow keys with my right hand, and jump/item with my left hand put my hand in a rather awkward position.
Also why the heart statue doesn't heal me unless I am dead?
