When first booting up the game, I forgot to download the Extended Demo files!
In truth, I’m fascinated by this story’s concept. Having our “villain” be a muted gray compared to the vibrant hues of the “heroes”; the potential of that idea and how much knowledge he holds… I really like how the demo carefully unravels only snippets of the story yet to come!
POTENTIAL SPOILERS (+ Rambling)
It makes you wonder! Do the cast each relate to or represent different stages of grief too? And ways the mind compartmentalize lived experiences? Or symbols of what Sev sought under the abuse dealt to them? And their wings and animal features, probably relate to aspects of their character - or an additional warning for what’s to come?
Is Shyloh the main holder of the most traumatic memories, which is why he claims to know the answers we seek? Someone Sev created to protect them from those who’ve hurt them, a vindicator in fear of the cycle of harm and loss repeating? Because he is unnamed, does that villain represent the fear of grappling with realizing Sev’s family has hurt them? His missing wing, the scars, treated as an outcast and scorned by the other pixies; does he reference that isolation imposed upon the MC growing up?
Or is Shyloh an ideal of someone escaping and finding freedom from the ones who have attempted to destroy him? Is his reverence a coping mechanism for old wounds? Perhaps this dysfunction is a reflection of Sev’s mental state or desire to be whisked away from their troubles too.
Either way, despite how much this comment focuses on our “villain,” I want to dissect and psychoanalyze each of these characters. Thank you and your team for all the hard work in delivering a snapshot of Chromatic Agape! Excited to see where this world born from paint takes our protagonist and the pixies.
