Always prefer when games let you turn them off and on. Also seems like good programming if you're planning for future stuff. (not that this game is)

Auto generation can sometimes slow progress down, especially in early stages. Having small amounts of other units can make you wait extra time for them to attack, only to do very little damage compared to your main one.
