Does Simple Load not suffice? I understand there's an information overload so even knowing about some functionality in-game can be difficult, but using Simple Load to get Amelia back outside is one of its main functions. Depending on if you're in-game or on the main menu, use Load/Load Game button, find your save file, and use the 'Simple Load' button instead of 'Load' to soft reset many things and put Amelia back on her diary space. Unless what you're requesting is totally different, but it sounds like you just want a way to freely get out and see other content.
