Riverbed for Ocean

Is it possible to add a riverbed for the Ocean?

I wanted to create a beach on an island but I do not find a way to do so. Because the normal water is clipping with the Ocean due to the same height and if I toggle of the water there is no riverbed at all.

Also, is there a way to make the "side " of the land bit invisible? You have squared off bits that you can see in the ocean.
