one of my favorite vns of all time, the characters and artstyle have haunted me for months. the endings were so well written they made me cringe on behalf of the mc. I just. I love it so much
This is super uncomfy, but I wouldn't lie and say its not a kink- just that maybe in this particular instant its uncomfortable because it isn't subtle what the doctor's intentions are. Good writing usually flows in a way where everything is as normal and taken at face value, with only the barest hints of something wrong alerting those who are sensitive to pick it up. I think him being too forward (which would make sense I suppose since he’s done this multiple times before and gotten away with it) perhaps might’ve been disruptive to the mystery and unease of the MC finding themselves in an odd situation. If anything, the MC should only be compliant because of the obvious threat the doctor presented, and not because they were charmed (while there are choices to choose to be charmed, the idea behind choice is that it should be something difficult to make and not have an obvious ‘good’ or ‘bad’ decision).
I feel the explanations of the medical course was overexplained. While I appreciate the research, what the doctor knows is not necessarily something the patient needs to know. Information is condensed to what is relevant to how the patient can be in charge of their own care, and often it doesn’t include intimate knowledge of the mechanics of the body to be able to know what needs to be done. I do think it fits the parts when he was actively affecting others with his powers though (MC and the Woodsman), explaining as it happened what was going on as their bodies fell apart.
Otherwise, I did enjoy the story. The writing was alright, perhaps the pacing (and the above mentioned) could be improved. I can’t say I love it visually, but it didn’t exactly hamper the experience.
