Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
Everlasting is a cozy open-world exploration game centered around the power of generosity and environmental stewardship. Designed for players who seek comfort, connection, and purpose, Everlasting invites them to gently restore a once-thriving landscape, now frozen in a gallery of nature.
Our goal is to create a world that encourages mindfulness, care and contemplation. Gameplay is centers around giving: planting and watering to mend a habitat. As players progress through the length of the game they visibly transform the flora of the landscape and awaken the energy of an old spirit almost to neglect.
By blending environmental themes with subtle emotional storytelling the peaceful short gameplay encourages players to take a moment of reflection to slow down, and give back their environment.
At the heart of the game lies a mysterious frozen owl, once the guardian of the world. Who begins to stir as players heal the land. This silent character stands as a symbol of how the balance of the environment and our actions can have a ripple effect. There is magic and potential where you choose to spend your time!
Music is composed and developed especially for this game centered around acts of service and slowing down in life. Buttering toast is not something I would do for myself but an act of generosity that I would never pass on when slowing down and caring for a friend. This song is also a platonic love ballad that you can dedicate to your bestie, your environment or even your cat. (See lyrics below)
Variation endings are planned with layered instrumentation to implemented as a soft reward for players involvement and unlocking of puzzles.
Thank you for putting on this jam!

Surprised there aren't any other comments, but I quite like this game! The visual aesthetic of the trees and flowers were definitely my favorite aspect, especially seeing the flowers regain their color. I wasn't able to play too long due to the lag on my laptop so I can't comment too much on the gameplay, but from what I was able to do, I found it to be pleasant experience. Nice work!
Appreciate your comment !❤️ I'm still learning to make better foliage but this makes me so happy~ We are still expecting to further develop this game since it's far from finished. Hopefully we can figure out how to better optimize the build for everyone to play by the end!
