Absolutely loved it! And the plot twist at the end I did not expect at all, that was such a fun surprise. Try it out, it's an amazing game :)
I'm a big enjoyer of this game type between cozy and horror, you can do some crazy good plot twists with it. While you did a great job on making the story and the game overall, it was really boring.
You did good on doing this quick jumpscare sequences, like when we go throw the trash and get ingredients, but they where more interesting to see than scary. I think this fits more as a weak psychological horror than anything... I'm not sure if you even focused on the horror aspects, so you can take everything I say with a grain of salt.
The story is interesting, at first you think the MC has problems with his mental health, but considering this was made for a game jam, it looks like there's indeed an alien invasion going on... Unless that's not really the case, so correct me if I'm wrong haha.
Gameplay is simple, but it stands out nicely because of those small texts saying how good we are at cooking hehe. I can't really say more than that since there's not a lot you can do or interaction, I do know and like how we can interact with the smallest things, but I do wish you could do more than that, considering how simple the game is. Something like we do with our meds, just spinning it around and looking at it.
What really stands out beautifully is not only the graphics and scene of the game, but also the artwork we see around us. Those small icons really added a nice touch to the game, and the house layout itself really makes you feel all comfortable and cozy.
The scene building is also greatly done, everything fits in their place instead of just being there for decoration.. I'm saying this because that happens a lot in other games, there's always something that's only there for decoration, but it doesn't feel like it should be there.
Now for the important part... The reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is not because of the weak horror aspect, but because of the audio of the game... I'm not exactly sure where we live, but only being able to hear us doing our things is weird, but not a good/spooky way... I at least didn't hear anything.
I won't say much about this, but while I do get it that making music for a game would be a lot of time consuming, you SHOULD have added some sound effects around the house... Weak bird sounds from outside, cars passing by, sirens from emergency vehicles and so on. There was a lot of possibilities here, and seeing how dead silent the game is really annoys me...
Overall is a great game, but some quality-of-life fixes are really needed in here. Really good job on making the game though! It's incredible to know only 2(!) people did this game... I'm honestly really excited to see what you guys plan to do for the future, good luck!
