  • As addressed in the game description, this is very much a WIP and has its own idiosyncrasies. However, the game suits the jam theme really well, in a unique way - whether by accident due to the limited timeframe or design!

What I liked about it most is that it addresses the concept of horror and space in a way that other games didn't - it explores the idea of the bleak emptiness of space and uses it as a platform to explore loneliness and the value of human connection amidst it all. And I think that this was one of those games that evoked a genuinely existential mood - everything from the isolation, to the inky backdrop of space, and the dull hum that permeates the audio really gives an atmosphere that reinforced the idea you were going for.

So, about the voice acting. I have seen my fair share of bad voice acting in indie games so the limitations there weren't really too grating. I think very few devs are willing to take risks and try something that may turn out a bit awkward. So I think it's cool that you went for it to get your story across.

One bit of feedback might be that the efforts to distinguish gender between the player and Rachael might be a bit hyperbolic - the hot pink design of the shuttle/uniform seems a bit too loud! Obviously with more time and effort in a non-jam situation this concept could be used to develop a more nuanced writing style and characters. As it is, this game deserves recognition for an attempt to explore a different approach to horror and space themes.

Thanks for submitting this experience to SCREAMWORLD!

  • A touching piece about the horror of separation and staring deeply into the void.

PLEASE NOTE: v1.1 was uploaded like 15 minutes after the deadline, and it fixed a couple small errors. Feel free to judge me on the first upload, but please play the update, as it fixes the timing on one of the most important details at the end, and severely impacts the ending. Please at least play the update first, for the integrity of the game.

It's ok! Late uploads are fine if it's that close to the deadline or for the purpose of fixing bugs - but thanks for being considerate of the rules :)
