Decent fun, and well made for a Scratch game (I can tell you used the Griffpatch tutorial for the platforming). But it lacks the Satisfying Punchy feel of the Original Mario combat, The lack of effects, and the lack of knock back on the Goombas really hamper the combat feel.
You are missing the left and right combo attacks, and the basic attacks feel slippery and have launched me off the edge a lot.
The space and R keys feel really unnatural to use as the attack keys, to the point I found myself defaulting to the Original games controls.
The instant transition from death to restart is jarring, and could do with a fade to black like the transition for the castle and pipe.
The default blocks strewn about make it feel less like a complete level and more of a work in progress,
There are parts that are just inaccessible, The upper layer on level three and the entire segment when you enter from the bottom door of the castle. It feels like you made the level and then adjusted Mario's jump height and didn't fix the level designs to accommodate for it,
A small amount of invincibility when you are hit would be a lifesaver, I've been hit multiple times by Hammers and Lava, and I die without having a chance to fight back.
The lack of checkpoints and perma-death on game over is BRUTAL, especially with how demanding the platforming is (Those one block jumps in level 3 are the bane of my existence).
The original was short, And Mario had a lot of health, and it STILL didn't have lives. Dying only reset your point counter (or in the case of Mario combat deluxe took half of your points), and started the level over.
You can uppercut an enemy while you're in the air to fly away with them until they die.
Enemies and environmental hazards do SO MUCH DAMAGE, and as stated before, they can trap you in a combo and you just lose all your health. And since the mushrooms don't heal you that much, you'll just die anyway.
The enemy variety is fun, but the combat feels like its just the same thing over and over (And making it so Hammer Bros. cannot be killed by hitting the block under them, when that's how they are usually dealt with was mean.)
There are options in TurboWarp to remove the scratch Ui, making it much less obvious it was made in scratch.
A level editor would be nice (Especially since i know that what you are using has one built into it)
Walljumping is a part of the original that is sorely missed here, and it would open up newer level designs.
And I suggest adding in special moves like Mario Combat Deluxe did, Giving Mario more options in a battle rather than just a punching match.
All in all, It IS a good Mario Combat fan game, but it certainly could use some polishing.
very good i like the punching feature its as if mario is pissed bowser interrupted peach giving him sloppy top
is cool
cool
Very good! Although, zombies teleport into me which is unfair. And the 2nd gun won't shoot. I like the music! Overall good game!
