I love the character! I was not very successful playing it, but I like the idea and think it could be expanded into a fun bigger game, nice!

This game has groovy music and a lot of charm! I am sad that I’m unable to play it due to a bug. When on top of obstacles, any left or right movement will move me left, so I am unable to move past them. It seems that when sliding on obstacles, I can only move left. The problem also occurs on the floor before the drain, so half the time, I am unable to progress into the proper level, although the game will sometimes tell me “Good Job!” when I release down, as it would if I had entered the drain. Good luck, I really want to play this game if/when you can fix the bugs! It looks really cool, and I hope you don’t leave it alone after the game jam!

tested on Google Chromium (latest).

Innovative controls and impressive pixel art! The tutorial is a very nice addition (and it would be even better if it's made clear that you can't duck while moving). The length is short but I certainly see potential for further expansion.

I don't quite understand how the theme is used though, is it related to the fire mechanic?

Developer

Unfortunately, we ran out of time to implement the one feature that would have brought the theme into the picture. So you will have to imagine with me until I can update the game in the future. :)

Blobby is flammable and the plan is to have a growing fire hazard chasing him through the levels as his slime trails ignite and cause a sense of urgency. Also, the spiky glass bits are supposed to be hazards for Blobby. We were just too ambitious and ran out of time.

Thank you for checking it out and for the feedback.

That is quite clever and creative, I like it! I can imagine a very interesting game out there ^ ^

I really want to like this game. The blob and music are so damn charming, I want to cause some mischief with this sewer blob - the atmosphere feels perfect.

But the physics are so glitchy. Pretty much every time I interacted with the physics system it broke in some way. I was teleporting all over the place and getting stuck in objects. The game is completely unplayable basically.

It also feels like the controls have a mind of their own. I want to go right, but the controls start moving me to the left out of nowhere.

I also saw some graphical glitches where tiles weren’t aligned properly and I could see a line going between them.

I think this has the potential to be amazing though!

Thank you for checking the game out and for all the great feedback. These are all fair points and we plan to continue polishing this game after the jam is up. The physics stuff stinks but we ran out of time before the end of the jam to do it properly. Thanks again. This is a very encouraging review overall for the idea... even if our execution of it needs a lot more work to make it good. :)

Well here I am again, trying to play it for the 3rd day in a row now :P I get frustrated and quit every time, but I always come back anyway. There’s definitely something here, I really hope you fix the issues because I would love to play the finished version of this! :)

I am reworking the collision generator. Between that and the hazards at least, the game jam content we originally planned should be in this game at some point after the jam. No idea how long though. Course work is heating up at school. I'll post an update on the game page and in discord when its fixed up. Thanks for the encouragement. One thing I find helps me when I play this dodgy version is to use WASD exclusively and to spam the spacebar to jump over the taller obstacles.

The game is very interesting! Rather short, but the idea is really fun! Good job!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback and for playing the game. I appreciate it.

The game is alright, but maybe some more levels to make it lengthier would have been nicer. Don’t get discouraged though! The concept can be used for good :)

Thanks for checking it out and for the feedback. Definitely needs more levels. We were probably too ambitious and short on time. We will definitely push this idea further eventually (and with better collision) after the jam is over.

like the idea of game where one plays as blubber and have to dodge objects and jump around. But this game is vary short and does not offer much for replay ability. Also it seems collisions is not implemented right as it is glitchy. With makes some of the obstacles hard to overcome.

Developer(+1)

100% agree the collision is glitchy at the moment. The fact that you can wall jump is a bug and that collision forces you mainly toward the start but wall jumping ended up making the main level able to be completed and we ran out of time. Replayability with a game like this makes a lot of sense but at the moment nothing is procedurally generated. A great idea for some future version of the game. Thanks for playing and for the feedback.

It's enjoyable

Developer

Thanks for playing. I appreciate the feedback.

This game has pretty smooth controls, but the collision detection is glitchy. I liked the fx though!

Developer

Thank you! I appreciate the play and feedback. Yeah, I ran out of time to polish the game. Its missing some core mechanics features too that I (fire damage, etc.) I will push this game forward sometime after the jam is over.
