I have written nothing for anyone else. I am taking boards in the middle of February; after that, I'll have to move from the most conservative part of my state to the least conservative part of my state. Because this is the Midwest, that doesn't mean much. I like poetry in that I like to read it and promptly forget everything besides how I felt. I can deal with any bodily fluid besides sputum. If you want a copy of the paper I wrote about how long doctors have been staring creepily at trans people, hit me up on tumblr or twitter.

Synopsis
Essentially: What If You Were Trans in a Field Where Trans People Are Seen as Medical Oddities. What If You Grew Up in a Somewhat Conservative Midwestern Catholic Family. What If You Really Like Dressing Wounds. What If You Probably Have Some Stuff to Work Out Where Other People Can't See.

I love this! Here are some of my favorite lines: "how it still surprises you, when anyone wants to fuck you / when anyone thinks you have a future" "looked at you like / and Interesting Wound" and "But you know what you mean"

"frankenstein was trans. so was his monster." by fossil (twitter/tumblr). I am a trans person who was raised in a conservative Catholic family with a parent from the Midwest, so when I read the synopsis I knew I was going to relate. "What If You Were Trans in a Field Where Trans People Are Seen as Medical Oddities. What If You Grew Up in a Somewhat Conservative Midwestern Catholic Family. What If You Really Like Dressing Wounds. What If You Probably Have Some Stuff to Work Out Where Other People Can't See.". I was right, fossil really delivered. 19 pages of hard-hitting HONEST poetry about the ways doctors treat trans/non-cis people less than human ... and all the ways it shows you something about humanity we pretend isn't there. It's been one of my favorites so far.

I really enjoyed reading this. I hope you take care of yourself, and remember that anyone who doesn't respect you can go fuck themselves. Side note: my name is Colleen and I freaked for a minute while reading it lmao
