In terms of the theme, I am not seeing it through your game. I also am not good at chess so this was very hard for me and lacking the "fun" elements of a video game I expect to see. 

I liked the game, but I didn't feel there was an original touch to it. It would have been nicer if there were a nice twist or some unique art or concept. It also didn't seem to align with the theme of this game jam. Perhaps if you were going to work on this in the future, you could implement your own creative touch!
