- Realizing that a visual novel’s main selling point is the narrative, it pains me to say that I did not have enough time to let that story grow. Having made it past the first scenario after the Voice’s introduction, I can at least see how the theme “You are the Weapon” is implemented. The introduction was long without really establishing any details that justified it. One example is the banter between the Narrator and Jackie, your character, occurred often enough to become annoying rather than the tension breaker it feels like it was intended to be. There is no tension in the intro, which is good, as it establishes the baseline that the story can descend from into the philosophical dilemma that the story seems to intend toward. Turning to the Game Design Document, while most sections are included, I would have liked to also see in the graphics section examples of the graphical manipulation talked about in that section, and more than a brief overview of the project timeline. In closing, I think that the style and philosophy of the content made this a very fun dip into a world that I had not thought about in a long time in a perspective I could never have known.

Summarise your game!
A Ren'Py based sci-fi adventure. Lead your partially blind protagonist through key points in history and the future, so that they can become a weapon against the AIs that have set them on this path.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The protagonist starts as a victim, but has the ability to become the weapon that will end a terrible injustice, and some severe fiddling with the timeline!
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Just the story. :)

This really is a strange one. I seldom play graphical novels, so I am in no position to criticise any of these, but I think the story is pretty wild yet interesting. I am a bit lost somewhere in the early middle of the story, but luckily starting to understand it more before the end. I'd say the writing needs a bit more work and fine-tuning (also probably tone down the profanity a bit? It gets old quite quickly), but generally, it's a fun read. The choices are interesting too as there doesn't seem to have a "right" answer at all. The art is trippy at times, and I don't really have time to admire it, I am just too busy reading at that point.
But other than that, this is quite a unique entry to the jam indeed! Keep up the good work!
Yo I dig this game. Out of the games I've played from the jam so far, I've had the most fun with this one. The art is well-suited and pretty trippy to look at, and I like the writing
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, the story was a blast to write. :) The filters that I used to create the effects are in the image directory, in a text file.
