- GDD Very well-made GDD. I would like to see some images of the game in the mechanics section and a timeline of development at the end. It helps us get into the minds of the devs. Gameplay What a cool short game and story. The gameplay is simple, but with depth on mechanics and some variety in actions. Having an autonomous NPC is a hassle (Leon, Ganados), but in this case, the block feature makes the process seamless. I can see the Yoshi's Island inspiration, with your own take. The combat works well, but some reactivity would feel nice. The cleaver feels heavy, and that's good, since the vibe is Big Momma will keep you safe Rumble, but if the hits also felt heavy, the feedback of the game would improve a lot. A screen shake, SFX, and a small knockback can give this effect. The two enemies behave drastically different, and that was nice to see. But for me, something felt off about the black balls. High HP and fast but harmless is a good balance using the triangle of enemy design, but since they just circle Rumble, it became just a time sink, chasing the enemy while chipping off their HP. Small, thin things like them diving to attack and having to be blocked, and this block stunning and doing damage, would make the fight very enjoyable. I loved the healing mechanics. It bugged a few times; Rumble would activate the berry but not heal or move, staying static there. I exploited this on the last map to kill the balls. Art Lovely art. The design of Rumble was so cute, and the cleaver felt hefty. The enemies still felt like they belonged, even with the mix of 2D and 3D cleavers. Charming animation of a jumping cleaver. Very amusing. Sound design The SFX for attacks felt good and perfect for the special attack. I would appreciate SFX for hits and the Rumble interactions. A simple BGM could add to the atmoshpere. Last thoughts Rumble in the jungle. At first I was thinking, why not a ferret? Then I remembered, ferrets have no fear; this would turn into a beat-up. Great choice on the theme and characters, and even with such little time, the bond between Rumble and Momma felt so strong. Good writing. Great job.

Summarise your game!
Cursed Cleaver is an action game about a Mother who possesses a Meat Cleaver so she can save her son Rumble from danger!
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are a Mother who possesses a ridiculous weapon.
Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I worked hard on the Rendering... Browsers can be very limiting, but it makes you push harder I suppose! Each blade of grass is a separate model!

Very impressive art. Love the 3d in 2d (though my computer was cooking)! Rumble really likes to jump into the action, wish he would chill a little at times LOL
Yea definitely. I tried making him not attempt eating when there are enemies near the food, but I never got it to work

I love the animation on the Cleaver.
Changed the access. Thanks for letting me know
Phew. Let me know if you want me to delete the first comment so no one was the wiser :)
Eh. It's okay. I'm not stressing about being disqualified. I already gained the experience I set out for by attempting this jam on my own
I know exactly how you feel. We already signed up for the 'improve our game jam' to see how we can sort all the issues etc, out on ours
