Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • it felt like the AI was too agressive, and overall it felt cluncky to move around 3 characters, maybe scaling it down a bit would feel better.
  • The game is definitely playable. I think the premise is fun, but being attacked by the monsters really didn't deter me from winning. Great job with the game. It's definitely an accomplishment, as I completed it! Can't wait to see what you've got next!

Description:

Imagine a horror game in a board-game-like environment. Enter the old basement of a long dead (?) alchemist with a party of characters. Find the hidden items and escape the basement in time before you turn insane by the horrors that live down there.

How to play:

- Select the character you want to move with the mouse and control them with the buttons on the right side of the screen.

- Do not look at disturbing beings for too long. Keep your health and sanity in check!

- Sanity recovers, health does not!

- After you retrieved all the items [or you just cannot stand the horrors anymore], escape the basement by navigating the characters to the top of the stairs. Once a player exits the basement, they can not return.

- After every player got back to safety, your score is calculated. [Feel free to try the game multiple times to get the highest scores!]

[- I recommend playing in fullscreen for the best imersive experience]

Stuff:

- Thank you very much for playing my game!

- Feel free to leave comments!

- Good luck to everyone that is participating in this game jam!

----------------------------------------

Notes, if you get confused [includes some spoilers]:

- There is a monster in the basement [big surprise, I know].

- The monster is the ghost of the old alchemist [maybe he actually was partially successfull with the philosopher stone]

- Since the monster is a ghost, it can move [and attack] through walls. You are safe nowhere.

- When a character loses their sanity, they turn into another monster that haunts the remaining characters as well.

Nice game concept!

I wish it would be a bit more polished with some music and sfx. It could be great idea to add more items or challenges to the game - and more monsters? ^^

Good job!

Developer

Thank you so much!

Yeah, I totally agree! Music and sound effects would add a lot to the gameplay and emersion. Unfortunately I don't know anything about sound production and I was already on a tight schedule finishing before the deadline.

As for more various gameplay, I also completely agree! Originally for the prototype I wanted to have at least also some furniture you have to move around but again, as for every project loke this, I underestimated everything, haha.

Man I loved this, it reminded me of a few board games Death May Die, Mansions of Madness  and Arkham Horror. Unfortunately I neglected two of the the characters and ran from the ghost but I made it out alive with all the artifacts ... so win for the dead alchemist and a win for me haha.

Thank you so much for the nice comment!

Yeah, I wanted to go exactly for this boardgame like feeling and I kinda still plan on making a physical cooperative game out of it somehow.

I think your experience is a quite common one for the firt run, haha. I hope that after players get used to the mechanics and how to protect the characters from the monster it gets more of a puzzling game then just run and hope, hahaha.
